Ever have a wheelchair
break down in the evening or on the weekend? Last Friday night my chair popped
a circuit breaker (accessible only to a mechanic) on a flight into Sacramento.
Because wheelchair mechanics aren't available nights and weekends, it was
Monday afternoon before I got my chair repaired.
Solution: Perhaps 20
Sacramento wheelchair users can work together to pay a wheelchair mechanic to
be on call 6-9 pm week nights and 9 am - 9 pm week-ends. We (the wheelchair
users) would pay $50 / month ($1000 total from 20 people). Of that, $800 of
that would go to the mechanic just for being on call by cell phone. $200 would
go to one of the users to act as administrator. In addition, users would pay
the mechanic an hourly fee for actual repairs.
Right now, this project is
just a concept. If you want to work with me to make it a reality, e-mail me at
